Amanda Trager presents unstable proclamations on signboards using sampled phrases that incorporate a variety of media and approaches: tape covered Styrofoam, papier maché, and grommeted works on paper. The artist alters the pronouns from her original source material and utilizes handwritten and painted typefaces to change tones and intentions in order to create something approaching the deluded or needy rantings of a lunatic. With a studied ambivalence typical of her work, Trager writes, "and granting that I have something to say, OF ALLOWING ME TO BEGIN TO STAMMER IT OUT. I am much more accommodating than people say and I ask only to be understoodŠ"
