"All the places we dream of going have always been accessible from the living room couch."
Pamela Lins's sculptures simultaneously allude to both traditional high art processes and recreational motifs. Odd combinations of carved urethane sports trophies and ice chests elevated on vented sculptural bases meld notions of leisure and connoisseurship. These objects allude to movement and travel, yet are strangely static and distant. They create a non-movement of vicarious spectatorship. Lins is a graduate of Hunter College in New York. Her work has been exhibited at Thread Waxing Space, NYC, Brooklyn Museumof Art in Brooklyn, NY, and Ten in One Gallery, Chicago, IL. Following her exhibition at Momenta, Lins has exhibited with Blohard, Philadelphia, PA, Gallery Untitled, Dallas, TX, Andrew Kreps, NYC, Exit Art, NYC, White Columns, NYC, and Ten in One Gallery, NYC. |
