Peter Krashes's paintings present elegant handling of images derived from crude photographic distortions. Krashess latest series of paintings is derived from photographs taken through distorted mirrors of constructed situations ranging from gatherings of friends to simple still lifes and physical therapy sessions.

These violently distorted figures appear to be in the midst of a transformation - a transformation that seems both brutal and curative.

Krashes's deft paint handling echoes the photographic distortions while increasing the tension through abstraction.
