Elana Herzog uses familiar domestic materials to imply mutation and growth or decay. These sewn elastic and fabric pieces are part infants' clothing and part diseased decoration.
The tawdry and garish nature of the materials is evocative and playfully sculptural, traversing limits of attraction and repulsion and challenging our experience of beauty as an indicator of taste. |
