Informed by the stylistic suggestions of scientific illustrations, decorative arts, and horror cinema, the finely detailed drawings by Lorenzo De Los Angeles can be considered single narrative frames in a flux of activity that the viewer's mind completes. Coherence and dispersion, growth and stagnation are entangled in an ambiguous yet fantastical terrain. These obsessive colored pencil drawings combine compositional conceits of abstract painting with the illusionism of still life.
