Sue de Beer uses staged videos, photographs, and performances to examine how the media affects our perception of the natural. Using puns and tasteless jokes as unlikely inspirations, she alludes to events that are simultaneously disastrous and banal.

Her use of abject props emphasizes her perversely quixotic attempts to defy the laws of physics and social convention. Her performance, entitled Endurance, features exercise videos with the artist and her partner on a sofa, prosthetically joined at the lips.
