Jackie Chang's Art Created by the Artist Made by Someone Else is a collection of works designed by the artist but made by manufacturers located around Momenta Art in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The exhibition includes a venting duct made by a sheet metal fabricator and painted at an auto body shop, a large plastic wall cover made to specifications by a plastic furniture covering shop, and 10-foot zippers created by the zipper manufacturer next door to the gallery. |

Each piece is identified with a "j. chang made in the U.S.A." cloth label made by Triangle Labels in Williamsburg. The exhibition examines the artist as maker, as well as the complex partnership between artists, galleries and the existing neighborhood in a fast-growing artist community. Jackie Chang
received an MFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Selected
exhibitions include Rotunda Gallery, Brooklyn, NY, Art in General, NYC
and Peter Miller Gallery, Chicago, IL. Since her exhibition at Momenta,
Chang has created public works for the Public Art Fund, NYC, the Metropolitan
Transit Authority, NYC, and the Brooklyn Public Library, Brooklyn, NY.
